Hi Andy,

 

The SS Professor tour in Toronto was very similar to what you've already written about, so there's no need for a summary of the event.  I did learn a few things that were "new":

 

1. When Lorne was asked about his technique for cleaning the cymbals, he said it was a secret - his own concoction and not "yet" available on the market and implied he may be marketing it soon.

2. There was a self-proclaimed "Neil's biggest fan" guy there who presented Lorne with a picture of Neil's very first performance (see pic.183).  Being in Toronto,  Neil's home town of St. Catharines is only an hours drive away.  I believe this guy was from St. Catharines and the picture was taken from Lakeport High School where Neil had attended.  The guy also had a shot of Neil's grade 2 class picture as well as a homemade t-shirt from Neil's JR Flood days, the same shot that's been floating around on ebay recently.

3. According to Lorne the band hasn't even discussed getting together to begin work on a new studio recording (uugghh!!!).  No plans have been made about this kit or any future kit.  Lorne guesses Neil will probably record with this kit but may get something new for the tour that would follow.  He did say that he was confident Neil would stay with DW because of how happy he was with them and all they've done for him.

4. It became very obvious that Lorne was not a fan of Neil's previous drum tech Larry Allen.  That would be a good story to get.

HI ANDREW, THEY FINALLY MADE IT TO TORONTO, AND IT WAS AMAZING TO SEE THAT KIT RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE. ATTACHED ARE SOME PICTURES THAT I TOOK OF THE EVENT, & YES THAT IS ME STANDING WITH LORNE.

 

MOST OF THE TALKED ABOUT TOPICS ARE THE SAME AS YOU HAVE POSTED ON YOUR WEB SITE, A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT LORNE TALKED ABOUT WAS THAT THE HAS SEEN THE DVD THAT IS TO BE RELEASED NEXT TUESDAY,  HE SAID THAT THE PICTURE IS AMAZING, IT FOCUSES MORE ON THE BAND, NOT THE AUDIENCE LIKE RUSH IN RIO. ALSO THAT HE WILL BE USING THE 30TH ANN. KIT TO RECORD THE NEXT STUDIO ALBUM, BUT HE WAS NOT SURE IF THAT KIT WOULD BE USED FOR THE NEXT TOUR. AND LAST, THIS I FIND HARD TO BELIEVE IS THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE A DRUM KIT AT HOME, SO WHAT LORNE SAID WAS THAT WHEN HE IS NOT TOURING, HE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DRUMS.
