Close encounter with Neil's drums - Page 3
A mystery motorcycle man drove up on a BMW bike. He was dressed in black and wore a Rush crew t-shirt. He grabbed a cane and soft drum case, which had been sitting on the stage, and talked to a few of the "crew." Then he walked out of the parking lot. The man looked a lot like Neil's riding partner, Michael Mosbach, whom I had seen in pictures. Could this mean that he was scouting for Neil? That he would ride in and out with him? Why did he leave?
And then a Jeep Cherokee showed up with some guys who pulled out large cases. From the cases they took out professional video cameras. Were they going to film this event because Neil was going to be there?
I also talked to guy in the crowd, who said he got there early and took pictures of Lorne setting up the kit. He also overheard people saying things to Lorne like, "Why are you taking your time setting up the drums today?" Was it because Neil would be there and would want everything perfect?
Whatever the answer, the atmosphere was charged.
I took the opportunity to ask one of the Guitar Center guys to take a picture from behind Neil's drums. He was more than happy to oblige.
And then, around 5:00 p.m., Bill Morgan took to the stage.
